Jakarta, 26 August 2024 – Indonesia's State Electricity Company (PLN) has urged the public to refrain from flying kites to avoid electricity disturbances, especially during the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) II to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali from September 1 3, 2024.

PLN will control the activities with the personnel from the National Police, Armed Forces (TNI), Transportation Office, Civil Service Police, and all surrounding indigenous village offices.

The company also prepared four layers of network security to smooth the electricity supply for HLF MSP and IAF.

"PLN has prepared four layers of electricity network security to support the organization of IAF 2024," said Gede Agung Sindu Putra, PLN Bali I Distribution Main Unit general manager, in Denpasar on Monday, 26 August.

He explained it consisted of the network main supply for the first layer, the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the second layer, the generator provision for the third layer, and the customers' generator for the fourth layer.

"The four-layer electricity supply security needs community support to prevent network interference, such as from kites," he said.

"The biggest risk that needs to be watched out for is kites stuck in 150 KV transmission and 20 KV distribution networks, which can cause power supply disruptions.”

Mr. Sindu urged the public to support the events like other international events done in Bali, such as the World Water Forum and the G20 Summit.

PLN is also working with the Bali Indigenous Village Assembly to spread the appeal to the community around the IAF II venue in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.

Meanwhile, Bali Indigenous Village Assembly chair Ida Panglingsir Agung Putra Sukahet praised PLN for maintaining Indonesia's reputation during the international event.

"Electricity is vital for the smooth running of the IAF 2024 as [we must maintain] our reputation as the host country," he underscored.

He appealed to all Bali residents not to fly kites, especially during the event.
