Badung, 1 September 2024 – Deputy for Political, Legal, Defense, and Security Affairs of the National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), Bogat Widyatmoko, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in facing global challenges.

In a press conference ahead of the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) 2024 and the 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua, Bali, Sunday (1/9/2024), Bogat emphasized the need for a new approach which involve close cooperation between governments, academics, philanthropists, private sectors, and other developing countries.

"The business-as-usual approach is no longer sufficient to address the various global challenges facing the world today. New initiatives that encourage close collaboration with various partners and stakeholders are needed," said Bogat.

This collaboration is key in Indonesia's efforts to strengthen its role in the international arena, especially in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Deputy Bogat also emphasized that Indonesia must be open to learning from other countries that have successfully implemented best practices that can be adapted.

He also hopes that the success of the HLF MSP 2024 will not only improve Indonesian business and industries’ competitiveness in the international market but also strengthen global solidarity and positively impact the local economy, especially in Bali.

"With thorough preparation, we’re optimistic that HLF MSP 2024 will be successful and provide real benefits for global cooperation," he added.

Currently, more than 1,349 participants from 55 countries have been registered to attend the HLF MSP 2024. This figure includes 916 government representatives, 105 from international organizations, 109 from non-governmental organizations, 132 from the private sectors, and representatives from various academic communities, think tank institutions, philanthropic organizations, and multilateral banks.

Deputy Bogat also emphasized that the HLF MSP 2024 also had a direct and indirect economic impact on the people of Bali.

"A rough estimate of the HLF MSP’s trickle-down effect is up to Rp100 billion. And it’s just the direct impact, not including the indirect impact that must also be calculated," explained Deputy Bogat.
