Badung, 2 September 2024 – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomed the collaboration between Bio Farma Indonesia and Atlantic Lab Science Ghana as proof of the good relations between Indonesia and Ghana, especially in the health sector.

This was conveyed by the Head of State during a bilateral meeting with Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the Casablanca Room, Mulia Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali, on Monday (2 September 2024).

"I hope this collaboration can encourage local vaccine production in Ghana and support vaccination programs in other African countries," said the President.

During the meeting, the two heads of state also discussed various efforts to strengthen the bilateral relations that have been established for 65 years between Indonesia and Ghana.

""Welcome to Indonesia, and thank you for Your Excellency's presence. The bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Liberia has been strong for nearly six decades, and I believe there is more potential that we can develop together," said President Jokowi.

In addition, President Jokowi also asked for support from President Akufo-Addo regarding the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on food and drug supervision between the supervisory authorities of the two countries. The President hopes that the MoU can strengthen synergy in the pharmaceutical sector between Indonesia and Ghana.

The Head of State also proposed the development of cooperation in the energy sector, especially in oil and gas exploration. The President said that Indonesia and Ghana must explore cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including the oil refinery construction in Ghana with Indonesia's involvement.

"This cooperation is expected to increase added value and meet energy needs in Ghana," said President Jokowi.

In addition, at the meeting, President Jokowi again emphasized the importance of cooperation in the development sector, which he said could be adjusted to Ghana's needs.

"Indonesia is open to working with Ghana on programs that are following Ghana's needs through the Indonesia Aid mechanism including technical support, scholarships, and vocational training," said the President.

Accompanying the President at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Investment/Head of Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
