Jakarta, 27 August 2024 – The 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision aligns with Africa's Development Agenda 2063. The meeting between Indonesia and African countries at the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Bali on 1-3 September 2024, marks an important moment to strengthen and deepen cooperation towards achieving these visions and agendas.
The Director of African Affairs at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, emphasized that the alignment between Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 and Africa's Development Agenda 2063 is not a coincidence but reflects a shared determination to build a more inclusive and fair future.
"Both visions share a focus on human development, with an emphasis on education, health, and the empowerment of women and youth," she said on Tuesday (27 August 2024) in Jakarta.
Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 is a long-term plan which aims to make Indonesia an advanced and prosperous country by its 100th independence anniversary. This vision focuses on four main pillars: human resource development, sustainable economic growth, strong governance, and equitable development, with the hope of positioning Indonesia as a global force actively contributing to maintaining world peace and stability.
On the other hand, Africa's Development Agenda 2063 is a strategic roadmap designed by the African Union to transform the continent into a self-reliant, sovereign, and globally competitive region.
African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretary-General Wamkele Mene believes that Agenda 2063 serves as a foundation to optimize Africa's potential by promoting intra-African trade and creating an integrated market.
"Agenda 2063 is key to transforming Africa into a global economic power by 2063," expressed Wamkele.
Indonesia and Africa share a rich historical legacy in their fight against colonialism. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.
With the synergy between Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 and Africa's Development Agenda 2063, the 2nd IAF will discuss not only each region’s progress but also how both continents can mutually strengthen each other and have positive impacts on the world.
"As the country with the largest economy in Southeast Asia and Africa as a continent with tremendous economic growth potential, this collaboration will not only benefit the people of Indonesia and Africa but also act as a catalyst for broader global change," he emphasized.
